i'll still hope 'cause you can almost use everywhere your own avatar^^ and if they don't wanna pay to(o) much for that they can make a partnership with gravatar or just support that. 'cause you aren't allowed to upload an avatar there which ist to sexual suggestive or show signs of racism ^^ and it is easy to use since you only have to make an account there with you email and just have to upload your avatar, after that you will see that avatar on the most websites (mostly blogs) when you post there and use the email for that
