About the Contest

Visari is gone, but the war is far from over. Helghast forces have mounted a devastating counter-attack, prompting the ISA evacuation of planet Helghan. As new Helghast battalions appear, armed with more powerful weapons, ISA forces find themselves outmanned, outgunned and surrounded.

You will find yourself with the stems from "Stahl Arms Battle" from the KILLZONE 3 original score, primed for remixing.

You have the opportunity to win a Limited Helghast Edition of KILLZONE 3 that can't be purchased in stores. The Limited Helghast Edition includes the Killzone 3 PlayStation 3 game, a limited authentic Helghast helmet replica with illuminated LED eyes, an exclusive 6.5" tall cloaking Helghast marksman action figure, exclusive Killzone 3 art book and a Killzone 3 Super Voucher loaded with downloadable goodies. Other prizes are listed below.

First, a note from the composer Joris de Man:

This piece is divided into sections of around 10 bars each, and separated by 2 bars of reverb tail-offs and silence.

In the game, the 2 bars 'silence' of one section are mixed in with the first 2 bars of the following section to allow smoother transitions between sections.

There are 3 intensities for this piece, and 3 different parts for each intensity, going from High, Medium to Low, and then followed by an Outro and an Intro Section.

Stems were created for each instrument group, with several synth sections and a percussion group.

Please keep in mind that rhythmically this piece is 6/4 for the most part.

How To Enter

First, create your remix of "Stahl Arms Battle." If you don't already have ACID® software, download the free ACID XPRESS™ software. Next, download some of the loops. Using the ACID music creation software, paint the loops into your remix. When you're finished, return to this page and click the Upload My Entry button. Upload your track, and you've entered the contest.

At 12:00 a.m. midnight PST on Thursday, April 21, 2011, the contest will be closed and no further uploads will be accepted. If you are new to ACIDplanet, you should create an account and upload a song as soon as possible so that you can work out any problems with uploading that you may encounter. Also, uploading a song can take a considerable amount of time. It's better not to wait until the last few hours of the contest to start uploading your entry.

Entrants must upload a Windows Media format or Real Media format version of their entry first. You will not be able to upload any additional formats after the contest closes, so if also you want to upload an mp3 version, please allow enough time to upload them both before the contest closing time.

What is the .acd file in the sample remix? The .acd file is an ACID project file that contains a sample remix made from eight to ten of the contest loops. It can help you learn how to use ACID, or give you ideas about remixing the track. You don't need to use it, but you'll at least want to download the sample remix so that you get the loops.

Can't open the ACID project file? The ACID project file (.acd file) is in ACID 5.0 format. It can be opened in ACID 5.0, but not in previous versions of ACID. If you using a previous version of ACID and you wish to view this file, you can either upgrade or download the current version ACID XPress in the Tools area of this page. However, you do not need to view the .acd file to enter the contest. You can simply use the loops in any version of ACID or in any other software.
