According to Eurogamer the developer is busy working on the game and is set to make an announcement about it soon. A source close to the game has said that Borderlands 2 will release next year on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. The game has been rumoured to have been in development for months now after it was spotted on a developers CV back in April.
